James joined EP Wealth Advisors as a Partner and Senior Vice President in 2024. Previously, he was a Partner and Portfolio Manager with Sloan Investment Management, LLC, where his responsibilities included research, trading, global asset allocation, and portfolio construction.
Prior to joining Sloan in 2011, he held positions on the equity research team at Hodges Capital and on a private wealth management team at Neuberger Berman. James graduated from the Cox School of Business at SMU (M.B.A.) and the Leeds School of Business at the University of Colorado (B.S. Finance). He is a graduate of the Securities Industry Institute at the Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania.
James is active with the Christ the King Parents Association and Jesuit College Preparatory School of Dallas, currently serving on the finance committee for the school.
He resides in Dallas with his wife, Darby, and their two children.
