Tom brings a systems-oriented background, complemented by some of the industry’s most respected professional credentials, to asset management and financial planning for the clients he serves.

Prior to becoming part of the EP Wealth family, Tom founded CornerCap in March of 1989 and served as its CEO until 2021, when he assumed the title of CFO. His previous roles included Chief Investment Officer for RJR Investment Management, where he worked with systems modeling and investment attributes to validate investment practices promised or sold by outside investment advisors to RJR Nabisco.

Tom received an M.S. in Systems Engineering from Ohio University and an MBA in Finance from the University of North Carolina, Greensboro. He earned his CPA (VA) while working as a systems consultant for Arthur Andersen. He completed his accreditation as a CFA® (Chartered Financial Analyst®) charterholder while working as Chief Investment Officer for RJR Investment Management.
